My ADHD however went undiagnosed my entire life... Now at 25 years old I've finally been able to have myself tested! The doctor was kind of flabbergasted that i had no testing done prior..... ((im also stunned that 'flabbergasted' was available in spellcheck)) She said that my case was severe and that she was kind of amazed that I functioned.
Hearing her say that was both shocking and amusing. I had never been overly hyper, ive never started screaming just because i have ADHD and i can, i never talked back to my mother (god help me if i did!) and I was always easy to be around.
The good news is that with the diagnosis I can get help in school (which starts again in august) and I have medication now.
They put me on Adderall (bum bum bum bummmm!) and I have to say its been really helpful. Ive been able to write, start projects again, and even finish a book.... My mind was so scattered that I have not been able to finish a book in THREE FRICKIN YEARS. This kills me since I used to read all the time. -sigh- Also, another upside.... ive lost 15 pounds in a month. Holy pig shit batman!! I can think clearly, speak clearly, get my points across, loose my train of thought AND THEN PICK IT BACK UP AGAIN!!! Its been wonderful, and while many people are increasing their dosage, 10mg has helped me just fine. When I am in school though i will have to take 15 MG, but so long as i only practice that at school, I see no reason to be wary of it.
The Downsides!
Loss of appetite has kind of sucked. I mean I know its good in a sense that im not hungry, but not eating isnt healthy. I know your body NEEDS at least 1200/1500 calories (if you are dieting) and it sucks that when i eat food makes me kind of.... 'meh' Nothing feels good in my stomach anymore and really IF i eat breakfast and lunch its cold cereal because cold things are the only thing in the FL summer that i can stand to eat.
THE MOTHER-EFFIN-WALMART-PHARMACY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Holy crap can we say "SHIT HOLE!?" I hate that place!! Our local WalMart has recently redone their entire store... It looks really nice.... but they did not improve the pharmacy at all- only cosmetic improvements.
The pharmacists are resentuful
there is one guy controlling it all- and waiting for him is like watching snails fuck- seriously.
they never have my medication (or my mothers) on hand.
they dont give you bottle options
bottles are hard to read
always waiting in LONG ASS LINES (even though there are two registers open and 7 people back there!
The people in front of you will never know how to work the debit machine.... 'do i press yes?' ..........OF COURSE!
As if the Pharmacy gods (and walmart) really DID want me to have a BETTER pharmacy experience they did the best thing they could for me.... THE JACKASSES SENT ME TO TARGET because they didnt have my script...........GENIOUS.
Now... Ive been in the local Target sooo many times, but I just never payed the pharmacy any mind. Man I wish I had of before... IT was clean, there was no line at all, and when I dropped my script off the woman was SMILING and really, really friendly.... I loved it instantly. Did i mention NO LINE!? DID I!? DID I!? It seems that so many people just go to wal-mart for everything, that they didnt even think of Target as an option for their drug needs. Also, I was surprised to notice that in their medicine section, my adult gummy vitamins (thats right... adult GUMMY vitamins) were about $3.00 cheaper. Holy crap..... Ive reached medical nirvana (At least for my town.. I dont know how thing vary in yours) .
Lets get to the point (how bitchin ass AWESOME target is) ... While I was filling out my information I was surprised to see they offered two separate types of bottles! They offer standard childproof, and non-childproof bottles!! I dont have kids in my family anymore and damnit I wanna open my meds bottles like a big girl!
The bottles really are one of the things that make the pharmacy there amazing. they give you an upside down bottle with a patient chosen color coded ring that easily allows you to distinguish your medications from another family members. Brilliant. Lets take a look at this shall we?

1- Clear Top Lable for awesome |
2- Clear easy to read lable on front!! |
3- Space for personal notes/prescription information |
4-pharmacy information and easy refill number |
5-EPIC color coded band. They have several colors to to choose from. :) Mine is purple. |
6- Perhaps my favorite part. The patient informaton card. The card slips into a pocket on the back of the pill bottle and unfolds to reveal everythign the patient needs to show their doctor- such as, side effects, current medications, a description of the pill in detail (ie- blue, oval, ID stamps- ect) , and basic info on the patient. |
All in all the bottle is a genius design.
Another upside about the pharmacy is the prescription price!! I can honestly say they compete with walmarts prices!! They have 4 dollar generics for several medications. To see if yours is on the list- check out their pharmacy list here. sites.target.com/site/en/health/page.jsp
Okay.... so that is it for my epic rant of awesomeness.......
MORE ON FOOTBALL LATER!!!
